Word for the Day May 10
By:  Evang. Cascille Hammack

"When tempted, no one should say, 'God is tempting me.'  For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He tempt anyone; but each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed.  Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full grown gives birth to death."  James 1:13-15

God will allow our faith to be tested, but never with the intent to lead us to sin.  God is truth.  In John 14:6 Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through Me."  The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth.   Jesus said in John 14:15-17 of the Holy Spirit, "If you love Me, you will obey what I command.  And I will ask the Father, and He will give will another Counselor to be with you forever- the Spirit of Truth.  The world cannot accept Him, because it neither sees Him or knows Him.  But you know Him, for He lives with you and will be in you."  Jesus said in John 14:23-24, "If anyone loves Me, He will obey My teaching.  My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.  He who does not love Me will not obey My teaching.  The Words you hear are not My own; they belong to the Father who sent Me."
In John 8:34 Jesus explained, "I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin.  Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever.  So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed."  2 Peter 2:9,10 says, "For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell, putting them into gloomy dungeons to be held for judgement; if He did not spare the ancient world when He brought the flood on its ungodly people, but protected Noah, a preacher of righteousness, and seven others; if He condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah by burning them to ashes, and made an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly; and if He rescued Lot, a righteous man, who was distressed by the filthy lives of lawless men (for the righteous man, living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul by the lawless deeds he saw and heard)- if this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly men from trials and to hold the unrighteous for the day of judgement, while continuing their punishment.  This is especially true of those who follow the corrupt desire of the sinful nature and despise authority."  God knows how to deliver His people from corrupt and immoral people in every generation.
When your faith is tested, wait on the Lord.  He will deliver you and He will get the glory for your deliverence.  He brought Lot out after he was tormented day after day by what he saw and heard in the society around him.  God delivered him with a strong hand from that place.  God destroyed the whole earth but protected Noah.  God is faithful and will protect His children who keep themselves from sin.
