Word For The Day May 11 By: Pastor John Hammack
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in
everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God."
The one
thing we can do to cure worrying and stress is pray. Through prayer we renew our trust in the Lord's faithfulness by
casting all our anxieties and problems on Him who cares for us. God's peace comes to guard our hearts and minds as a
result of our communion with Jesus Christ.(Philippians 4:7) By going to the Lord, we receive mercy, grace and help in
time of need. We should never do anything without first seeking God. Philippians 4:4-5 says, "Rejoice
in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all, the Lord is near."
No matter what happens in our lives, we should rejoice. The Lord said He was a God that was near, not far away.
When we pray, He reassures us that He is indeed with us and that His peace that surpasses all understanding will come over
us. We should also pray for one another, James 5:16, 17 says, "Therefore
confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful
and effective. Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the
land for three and a half years. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops." Prayer
is the key, faith unlocks the door.
