Word for the Week Aug. 4-11
By: Evang. Cascille
"You must not treat Me as common and ordinary. I am
the Lord." Lev. 22:31,32
There is honor due the Name of the Lord who created heaven and earth. Honor
is defined in the dictionary as respect and reverence. God expects his children to honor Him. God is holy and
must be treated as holy. Many have taken a casual attitude in worship and in their view of Him and this
does not please God. He is holy and deserves all honor and respect.
Many lean on their own understanding of who God is and try to understand His ways
with their own limited minds or the follow someone else's idea instead of following Him. 1 Cor. 3:19 says, "For
the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God's sight..." Sometimes when God's children are facing many trials,
just like Job's friends, others want to fault them. But as Charles Swindoll said, "When you suffer loss that
does not mean you are being disobedient to God. In fact, it might mean you are in the center of His will. The
path of obedience is often marked by times of suffering and loss." Isaiah 2:22 declares, "Stop trusting in
man, who has but a breath in his nostrils. Of what account is he?" When people follow other people instead
of God, they will not give Him the honor due Him. They are honoring people and their ways in His place which is idolatry.
You must honor the Lord. In
heaven, the angels cry, "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord!" You must do the same. You must respect the Lord.
