And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you
and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: I have set my rainbow in
the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Whenever I bring clouds over the earth
and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures
of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. Whenever the rainbow
appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind
on the earth.” So God said to Noah, “This
is the sign of the covenant I have established between me and all life on the earth.”
People were so wicked God was sorry
He made them in Genesis 6:6 He said, "The LORD was grieved that he had made man on the earth,
and his heart was filled with pain." Genesis 6:9 says, "This is the account of Noah and his family. Noah was
a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God." Noah and his family
were saved while everyone else perished. Look how many animals were saved. Consider how big God told Noah to make the
ark to accommodate them.
A dear Christian friend, Virginia Armstrong, who is a saint and 90 plus years old
now (God had blessed her with longevity), who spent her life helping and loving people and animals gave me a book once entitled,
"Cold Noses at the Pearly Gates" by Gary Kruz. He proves through the Word that animals will be in heaven.
It was first my Grandfather then also later her life and example that lead me to the Lord. My Grandfather
lead me to the Lord from a child then when I moved to Malibu after graduating from Tulane, God had Virginia there. Another
friend told me of another similar book by F.J. Wintz “I Will See You in Heaven” stating the
Bible supports they will be with us in heaven. She told me of this book not knowing the following had just happened:
Having just lost a great dog, a beautiful pit
bull, with an incredible spirit that I rescued on my way to church just one week ago who had been hit on 1-10 and
left to die in the storm, God has comforted me with knowing I will see him again. He was His. His back was broken
and his vertebrae and spinal cord obliterated. He had sat stoically in this condition for at least four hours on the
side of the interstate in the storm. He never growled, never whimpered or complained or showed aggression. He showed
only love to everyone who came near him. He clung to me and had only one question in his eyes, "Why?"
He showed incredible fortitude, strength and love in the face of his intense suffering.
Yesterday when he went home to be with the Lord, Virginia's book "Cold Noses At the Pearly Gates"
appeared (even though she had given it to me 14 years ago) with the comforting scriptures that I would see him again.
God is faithful and He comforts all who mourn and gives us strength to continue on to do His will.
God is a merciful and just God. He holds the
scales and will balance all injustices. Part is what He has given me to do in Isaiah 61:1, is "...He has
sent me to bind up the brokenhearted..."
There are
so many of His like this beautiful pit bull who die daily at the hands of cruel and unjust people. God sent them to
be our companions and a blessing, instead many die daily mercilessly at the hands of the wicked, cruel and negligent. Proverbs
12:10 explains, "A righteous man cares for the needs of his animal, but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel."
I will continue to bind up the brokenhearted
which I have never seen more strongly than in this pit bull I picked up off of 1-10 whose broken heart showed in his eyes
but who loved unconditionally until his last breath in spite of the injustice and cruelty he had suffered on this earth at
the hands of negligent and cruel people. I will never forget him or the many others. I will be doing
a segment on WBRZ in Baton Rouge next week entitled "Stop the Suffering".
And I will never stop binding up their broken hearts and seeking justice for all who have no voice, animals
and people.
