Word for the Day October 10
By: Evang. Cascille Hammack
"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."  2 Tim. 1:7
Fear is the opposite of faith.  It is designed by the enemy to immobilize us. 1 Tim. 1:7 was given to Timothy to encourage him to fulfill his ministry.  1 John 4:18 says, "There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love."  Perfect love comes from God, for God is love. 1 John 4:8, "Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love."  His love drives out the spirit of fear.  Praying, meditating on His Word and praising Him in our hearts usher us into His presence and He wraps us in His love which drives out fear.  David who was victorious in many battles and lived by faith left us with many scriptures instructing us to not fear and to live by faith in God.  He wrote many of the Psalms. He declared in Psalm 56:4,  "In God, whose word I praise— in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?"  Before his death, "David also said to Solomon his son, “Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you until all the work for the service of the temple of the LORD is finished." 1 Chronicles 28:20
When we are weighed down by trials, we must remember that the Lord has compassion on us and these very conditions cause Him to draw near to us, as we draw near to Him.  He promises in Isaiah 54:14,15 "In righteousness you will be established; Tyranny will be far from you; you will have nothing to fear; Terror will be far removed; it will not come near you.  If anyone does attack you, it will not be my doing; whoever attacks you will surrender to you."
When we dwell in God's love, we have confidence in knowing we have victory because He is victorious.  A person with no confidence has no faith. Faith manifests itself in confidence because when you have faith you know you win, because He has already won.  He even promises in Romans 8:28 that, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."  Even when the trial appears to be to our detriment, God promises to work it together for our good, and He gets the glory.
Do not allow the spirit of fear place in your heart.  Draw near to the Lord and He will remove the fear.  As we walk in faith, He will give us victory.  When we pray, He hears us. Daniel was visited by a heavenly being who assured him in Daniel 10:12, "Do not be afraid, Daniel.  Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard and I have come in response to them."  1 John 5:14,15 says, "This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.  And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him."  Sing praises in your heart to Him.1 Chronicles 16:8, "Give praise to the LORD, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done." Meditate on His Word. Replace every fearful thought with His Word.  In Psalm 19:14 David said, "May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer."  Pray, meditate on His Word and praise Him in your heart and as you live by faith in Him, His love will cast out all fear.
Scriptures to meditate on:
2 Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
