Word for the Day October

"Whoever
dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, “He
is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” Psalm 91:1,2
The Lord, who is Most High is greater than any threat
we may face. He is Almighty and has the power to destroy every enemy. For those who commit their lives to the
will and protection of the Lord, He will give rest in the midst of the storms of life. The more fully we live in Christ
and His Word, making Him our dwelling place, the place where we live, the greater our peace in the midst of the trials of
life will be. God gives His tender protection and care to His faithful children. He hides and protects those who seek
Him in times of danger and harm. David wrote to the Lord in Psalm 17:8, "Keep me as the apple of your eye;
hide me in the shadow of Your wings from the wicked who assail me, from my mortal enemies who surround me." Jesus
said in Matthew 23:37, "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often
I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing."
Jesus used the illustration of the vine and the
branches. He said in John 15:4,5, "Remain in Me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it
must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in Me. I am the
vine; you are the branches. If you remain in Me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing."
After a person receives Christ as Savior and is forgiven, they receive eternal life and the power to remain in Christ
by the conviction of the Holy Spirit. Once given this power, the believer has to accept that responsibility in salvation to
remain in Christ. When Jesus said "remain in Me", the Greek word is meno which means to continue, abide or
to live. We are to live in Christ. We are called to pray, obey Him, love each other, keep our lives pure through
the Word, resisting sin and following the leading of His Holy Spirit in all we do. Jesus said in John 15:9, "As
the Father has loved Me, so have I loved you. Now remain in My love." This is done by obeying
His commands. In verse 10 Jesus continues, "If you obey My commands, you will remain in My love, just as I have
obeyed My Father's commands and remain in His love." As we do this, our deliverer and shield, The Lord Almighty,
is strong and will protect us from any harm and danger.
