Word for the Day June 29
By: Evang. Cascille Hammack
"Blessed
are you when men hate you, when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man.
Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, because great is your reward in heaven. For that is how their fathers treated
the prophets." Luke 6:22,23
When you experience rejection because of who
you are in Christ, it does not make you want to rejoice. It hurts deeply, especially when it is inflicted by those who
proclaim to be your brothers and sisters in Christ. Somehow, we expect more from those who profess His name and consequently
the wounds they injure us with hurt more than those inflicted by the world who do not know Christ. Jesus knew this,
but He wanted to warn us in advance to rejoice in that day by keeping our eyes on the eternal reward. He is reminding
us that our lives here are only a moment, but our spirits will live eternally. What is done here will be remembered
and the rewards will be forever. That is why 2 Cor. 4:17 says, "For our light and momentary troubles are achieving
for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen.
For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."
The Lord holds the scales and He will
reward each person for everything done here, whether good or bad. No one is getting away with anything. We are
not to take offense when we are rejected and slandered as evil because of our life in Him He has given us. We are to
rejoice and leap for joy! We will reap a great eternal reward. Man's rejection is God's protection. Rejoice
when you go through this pain by remembering your reward is eternal and God is faithful. His Word is true.
