Word for the Day November 16 By: Evangelist Cascille Hammack
"God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into
the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging." Psalm 46:1,2
With our trust and confidence in God, we do not need to fear. The power to face any adversity
in life is found in God. In the storm He hides us in the shadow of His wing. Sometimes He does not take the storm
away, but He gives us the power to go through it. He gives us the strength to endure it when we could have never survived
it alone. He works powerfully in us and enables us to overcome life's obstacles. Col. 1:29 says, "To this
end I labor, struggling with all His energy, which so powerfully works in me." The Lord did not design us to try
overcome life's obstacles without Him. He made us with a void in us that only He can fill. In John 15:5 Jesus
explains it, "I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in Me and I in Him, he will bear much fruit;
apart from Me you can do nothing." Ecc. 3:11 says, "He has set eternity into the hearts of men..."
He knew that we could not carry the burdens that life would put on us that is why Jesus said in Matthew
11:28-30, "Come to Me all you who are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from
Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is
light." When we try to carry our own burdens or solve them through our own means, it leads to
a state of fearfulness. The enemy uses fear to try to control us. If he can get us in fear instead of walking
in faith, then he has won and we will feel defeated. That is why we cannot focus on our circumstances. We must
keep our eyes on Him if we are to finish the race and obtain the crown He has prepared for us in glory. We cannot win
the race when we take our eyes off of the prize. 1 Cor. 9:25 says, "Everyone who competes in the games goes into
strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever."
Hebews 12:1,2 says, "...let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run
with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who
for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame and sat down at the right hand of the Father."
The Lord can change your circumstances in a moment if you have faith and keep your eyes on Him. Wait on the Lord.
Nothing is impossible with Him. Even in the darkest storm, He will keep you hidden in His peace. Ps. 26:3 assures
us, "You will keep in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You."
