"For by your words you will
be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned." Matthew 12:37
Jesus
said men will have to give an account on the day of judgement for every careless
word they have spoken (Mt. 12:36). James 3:6 explains, "The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts
of the body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell."
James 3:10 says, "Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be."
Jesus said in Matthew 12:33-35, "Make a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be
bad, for a tree is recognized by its fruit. You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For
out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks. The good man brings good things out of the good stored in him, and
the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him."
Our words are so important
that Romans 10:9,10 says, "That if you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised
Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your
mouth that you confess and are saved." Consider today how important your words are. With your mouth, if
you confess your sins, repent and accept the Lord's cleansing through the blood of Jesus Christ you will be saved if
you believe in your heart God raised Him from the dead to overcome your sin. The Lord said in Isaiah 1:18, "Come
now, let us reason together," says the Lord, "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall become as white as wool."
The Lord allows us to "reason" with Him. He allows us to use our mouths to speak to Him and to confess our
sins. Consider today the weight of all of your words. Consider what Jesus said in Mt. 12:36, "But I tell
you that men will give an account on the day of judgement for every careless word they have spoken."
