Word for the Day November 28
By: Evang. Cascille Hammack
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving,
present your request to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds
in Christ Jesus." Philippian 4:6,7
The
only cure that exists for worry is prayer. Your heart must be open to God and speak to Him. He is the only One
who changes things. Psalm 37:8 warns, "do not fret--it leads only to evil." 1 Peter 5:7 instructs, "Cast
all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you." God did not design us to carry the burdens life brings.
He does expect us to give them to Him to fix them for us. Prayer is not just about bringing our problems to Him, He
desires relationship with us. Peace over our hearts and minds come as a result of communion with Christ Jesus.
Col. 3:15 instructs, "Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace."
Through prayer, the Lord strengthens us in our spirits. Ephesians 3:16,17 explains, "I pray that out of His glorious
riches He may strengthen you with His power through His Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts
through faith."
In many churches today, there
is too much looking and talking and not enough praying. Jesus said in Matthew 21:13, ""It is written,"
He said to them, "'My house will be called a house of prayer,...'" Man's systems and programs will not hold
you. You must seek the Lord Himself with your heart open to Him One on one. When you stand before Him at the end
of your life, no one will be with you. You must pray so He can lead you and guide you in your life. The only way
you will fulfill what God has put you on this earth to do is by receiving instruction in your own heart and spirit through
prayer to Him. No one can do this for you. You must pray always.
When we pray, we experiece His love for us. Ephesians 3:19 says, "and to know this love that surpasses
knowledge - that you may be filled to measure of all the fullness of God." Through prayer, God's presence fills
us and He strengthens us to do all He desires for us to do (Ephesians 3:16). We receive His mercy and grace to
help us in our need (Hebrews 4:16). Then we are filled with the power of God to do His will and we reflect the
character that belong to the Lord Jesus Christ as He dwells within us.
