Word for the Day January 9
By: Evang. Cascille Hammack
"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at
the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." Galatians 6:9
Sometimes God has a delay in the timing of what
He is doing in your life. Joseph had to wait on the Lord to bring to bring the dream to pass that he had when he was
a teenager. (Ge. 37-47) There was a long road of trials and tests he had to endure patiently before the promise was
fulfilled as he remained faithful. He was thrown into the pit by his brothers and sold into slavery by them.
He was set up and lied about by Potipher's wife, he was thrown into prison. Throughout those years, he remained
faithful and did not question God. He pleased God in prison, he pleased God when he was mistreated and falsely accused.
He never retaliated. He became an administrator in prison and God gave him favor. He still had to be patient and
faithful. In the end, Joseph was fully equipped to deliver his family including his brothers who had abused him and
all of the people from the famine that was in the land. His anointing was for the deliverance of God's people.
He never gave up.
We see another instance where it seemed like it was too late in
what happened to Lazarus is John 11. Martha, Lazarus' sister told Jesus, "if you had been here, my
brother would not have died. But I know that even now God will give you whatever you ask." John 11:21,22
Then what Jesus spoke to Martha was eternal. Jesus said, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes
in Me will live, even though He dies; and whoever lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?"
Then Martha said, "I believe you are the Christ, the Son of God, who was to come into the world." John 11:27
Then Jesus went to where Lazarus was buried and raised him from the dead. In this, God's glory was revealed.
Sometimes the Lord will allow the situation to look dead before He brings about deliverance. You must wait on his timing.
We are to be faithful to Him in all circumstances.
You must be careful what you speak
when waiting on the Lord and always. In Matthew 12:35-37 Jesus says, "The good man brings good things out
of the good stored up in him, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him. But I tell you that
men will have to give account on the day of judgement for every careless word they have spoken. For by your words you
will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned."
Joseph never wavered or spoke words of
doubt in the years he suffered in being abused by his brothers, lied about and imprisoned. He knew God was greater than
his situation and he looked to God, not to his abusers. He waited for his deliverance and for God's purpose for His
life to be unfolded and God brought it to pass. He did not give up. In the end he was made the ruler over all
of Egypt for the time of famine in order to deliver God's people, even those who had hurt him.
Trust God, do not waver and his purpose for your life will be fulfilled.
