Word for the Day January 13 By: Evang. Cascille Hammack
"And we know that in all things God works
for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His promise." Romans 8:28
After the
Lord created the heavens and the earth (Ge. 1:1), He did not leave it for it to run independently of Him. He is involved every
minute in the care of His children and His creation. He is our loving Heavenly Father who provides for us and all He has has
made. David wrote in Psalm 36:6, "Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your justice like the great deep.
O Lord, your preserve both people and animals."
Not only does God preserve us, but He provides for us. He
created seasons and gives food for humans and animals (Ge. 1:29,30). In Ge. 8:22 He promised, "As long as the earth
endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease." Psalm 104 and Psalm
145 proclaim God's love and goodness to all of His creatures. Jesus proclaimed that God provides for the birds of the air
and the lilies of the field (Mt. 6:26-30; 10:29). He cares for us all physically and spiritually (John 3:16,17).
God wants us to "enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well"
(3 John 2). Jesus' redemption for us is intended to meet both our physical and spiritual needs. The Greek word translated
"all may go well" is eudoo. It literally means "to have a good journey, to be lead along a good road."
We must obey the Lord and His will for us. Even Jesus' protection as a baby came when His earthly parents, Mary and
Joseph had to obey instruction and flee to Egypt in the face of King Herod's murderous intent. (Mt. 2:13) Those who obey the
Lord and acknowledge Him have the promise from Him that He will make all crooked ways straight. (Proverbs 3:5-7)
