Word for the Day January 14 By: Evang. Cascille Hammack
"When I said, "My foot is slipping," your unfailing love, LORD, supported me. When
anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy." Psalm 94:18,19
Jesus said in
Matthew 10:30, "And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered." God's faithful children are of great worth
to Him. He values us so much and desires fellowship so much that He sent Jesus to die on the cross for us (John 3:16). We
are never away from His care and concern. Everything that is a concern to us, is a concern to Him. He knows everything in
the depths of our heart that no one else can see. He formed our hearts and and He made us and He loves us.
In Matthew
6:8 Jesus said, "..your Father knows what you need before you ask Him." We do not need to worry. Worry shows a lack
of faith in His fatherly care for us. Jesus taught in Matthew 6:33, "But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness,
and all these things will be given to you as well." When we seek to let God reign in our lives, we can be confident that
He will assume full responsibility as we are yielded to Him. Ph. 4:6 says, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in
everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." All fears, anxiety and concerns
must be decisively cast upon Him. It is too much for us to carry, but not too much for Him. We were not made to carry the
burdens of life, but to trust Him. 1 Peter 5:7 says, "Cast all your anxiety upon Him because He cares for you."
We are to have faith that He has already given us victory in all things when He bore our infirmities on the cross and died
for us and was raised in victory. We are victorious because He is, and He lives in us. Philippians 4:13 exhorts, "I can
do everything through Christ who gives me strength."
Colossians 1:10-14 says, "And we pray this in order
that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in
the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance
and patience, and joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in
the kingdom of light. For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves,
in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins."
