Word for the Day January 17

"Each of us will give a personal account to
God."
Romans 14:12
When we stand before God at the end of our earthly lives, we will each give an account
for all we have done while in our bodies, whether good or bad. No one will be there with us. Gal. 6:5 says, "We are each
responsible for our own conduct." God knows everything about us. Psalm 139:2 says, "You know when I sit down or
stand up. You know my thoughts even when I am far away." This is why Philippians 2:12 says, "Therefore, my dear
friends, as you have always obeyed--not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence--continue to work out your salvation
with fear and trembling,"
We must understand for everything we do, we will answer to God alone. Colossians 3:25
says, "Anyone who does wrong will be repaid for his wrong, and there is no favoritism." What someone else does,
whether good or bad, will be accounted for between them and God. In John 21:18,19, Jesus told Peter the way he would die then
told him to follow Him. Peter then asked Jesus how John would die. John 21:20-23 says, "Peter turned and saw that the
disciple whom Jesus loved was following them. (This was the one who had leaned back against Jesus at the supper and had said,
"Lord, who is going to betray you?") When Peter saw him, he asked, "Lord, what about him?" Jesus answered,
"If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow Me." Because of this, the rumor
spread among the brothers that this disciple would not die. But Jesus did not say that he would not die; he only said, "If
I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you?" Jesus' response to Peter explained to him that his full
responsibility was to follow Him. We are not to worry what others are doing, we must follow the Lord and give an account to
Him alone.
Ecclesiastes 12:13 says, "Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and
keep His commandments, for this is the whole duty of man."
