Word for the Day February 28 By:
Pastor John Hammack
"Therefore come out from them and be separate,
says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you." 2 Corinthians 6:17.
God tells us that we must be separate from the world and it's wicked ways. When you receive Christ,
you are a new creation. The old has gone, the new has come(2 Corinthians 5:17). As believers, we must not compromise
with any ungodly influence. We must also resist our sinful nature and put to death our sinful deeds.
When we are in Christ, we should be set apart and different from the world. We must hate sin, unrighteousness,
and the corrupt world system. When we do this, God blesses us with His peace and His presence. It is possible
to grieve the Holy Spirit with our choices. He will not stay where sin is. The Lord is holy and He can't look
upon sin.
If you find yourself surrounded by people who are not interested in serving the Lord,
it is important to take a stand for Him. These people are not going to be with you when you stand before Christ. You
may suffer some rejection, but man's rejection is God's protection. You are not here to please men but to please God.
Be bold in your faith and God will reward you. It is important not to be concerned about pleasing
man, but to please the Lord in everything. God is looking for servants He can trust. We are in the world,
not of the world. We are to be salt and light to a dark world. Wherever you are and wherever you go, are you salt
and light? The Word says in James 1:27, "Pure and undefiled religion before God the Father is this: to visit
orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world."
