Word for the Day March 18 Tuesday

"For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear,
but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry 'Abba, Father.' " Romans 8:15
Many have earthly fathers who fall short and do not father the children God gives them and some lose their earthly fathers.
But God has made provision for them. He has much to say about the fatherless in His Word. He also addresses
those fathers who are disobedient in 1 Ti. 5:8, "If anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for
his immediate family, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever."
Psalm 68:5 describes
the Lord, "A father to the fatherless, defender of widows, is God in His holy dwelling." Psalm 82:3 instructs
to "Defend the cause of the fatherless; maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed. Rescue the weak and needy;
deliver them from the hand of the wicked." It is sometimes more painful to have an earthly father who leaves one
fatherless than to be born without one or be separated by death. But God has taken up this cause. He
is a faithful father to the fatherless. Sometimes he allows earthly fathers to become hardened in their hearts toward
the children He gives them so the children will come to know Him, their true, living and eternal Father.
If you feel you are without a father today, know that you have a strong and faithful heavenly father who loves you and longs
to care for you with loving kindness. Through the death and resurrection of Jesus, He has called you into adoption as
His sons and daughters. Will you accept Jesus into your heart today? He understands if you feel abandoned.
He will never abandon you, for He is faithful. Men will always disappoint you, for they are mere men, but the Lord will
never disappoint you. When you receive Jesus as Savior, repenting of your sin and asking Him to live in your heart,
He will establish a family relationship between you and God. He will give you a new birth (John 3:3), you will take on your
heavenly Father's nature (2 Peter 1:4), your heavenly Father will care for you (Mt. 6:32, 33, 7:9-11) and He will discipline
you (Heb. 12:6-8). You will also receive new brothers and sisters (Heb. 13:1).
If you do not have a father or your earthly father has failed you, know that you have a true heavenly Father who longs to
love you and comfort you today. Everything that concerns you, concerns Him. Accept His love for you today.
He longs to be your Father here and for all eternity.
