Word for the Day June 2
By: Evangelist Cascille Hammack
"...inasmuch as you did it to the least of these My brethren, you did it to
Me." Matthew 25:40
Jesus teaches us in Matthew 25:31-46 about the
judgement that will occur after the tribulation and Christ's return to earth but before the beginning of His earthly reign
(see Da 7:9-14; Rev. 5:10; 19:11-20:4). At this judgement Jesus tells us He will separate the wicked from the righteous.
He uses the illustration of the sheep and the goats. Pay attention to how He instructs us to treat His children.
Jesus said in Mt. 25:35, "for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave me drink; I was a stranger
and you invited Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me."
The righteous will ask when did we do these things? He explains when you did it to the least of these brothers of mine
you did it to Me. Do you treat His children as if you are touching Jesus Himself? He says you are.
He says to righteous, "Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the
world." Mt. 25:34 Again, He explains, this time using the illustration of the goats. Mt. 25:41-43,
"Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry
and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; I was a stranger and you did not take Me in; naked and you
did not clothe Me; sick and in prison and you did not visit Me." He said they will answer Him, when did we do these
things? He said His answer will be, "inasmuch as you did not do it for one of the least of these, you did not do
it to Me. And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life." Mt. 25:45,46
Whatever you do, when you touch the lives of those who belong to Jesus, you are touching the Master Himself and He remembers.
