Word for the Day April 3 Thursday
By: Evang. Cascille Hammack
"Out of the most severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity."
2 Cor. 8:2
Paul was speaking about the Macedonian churches in the above verse.
He commented that they gave even beyond their ability to give. In verse 5, he said they gave themselves first to the
Lord and then to them in keeping with God's will. They were earnest in their giving and God blessed them.
In 2 Cor. 8:9 Paul explains, "For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, He became poor,
so that you through His poverty might become rich." In verse 12 he further explains, "For if the willingness
is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what he does not have."
Even
in your lack, the Lord requires you to give according to your means. He sees the heart and the willingness to give.
If you are in lack, give! If you are in abundance, give! Will you give of your time, your resources, your
abilities to the Lord? He gave all to you.
