Word for the Day April 7 Monday
By:  Evang. Cascille Hammack

"Look!  The wages you failed to pay the workmen who mowed your fields are crying out against you.  The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty.  You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence.  You have fattened yourself for the day of slaughter."  James 5:4,5

James warns people with wealth who habitually oppress others for their own gain.  God sees everything and nothing escapes His hand.  James 5:1-6 describes the world we live in today.  But God's Word has not changed.  It is the same yesterday, today and forever.  James informs those who oppress others in James 5:1-3, "Now listen, you rich people, weep and wail because of the misery that is coming on you.  Your wealth has rotted, and moths have eaten your clothes.  Your gold and silver are corroded.  Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire."  That is not exactly getting ahead.  People today think that by oppressing others, they will get ahead.  God watches carefully over the affairs of His children.  He is their shepherd and He will handle any wolf  that disturbs them.  People should be very careful how they handle God's sheep.  God is a righteous judge.   The world we live in of selfish greed seems imbalanced.  Credit card companies steal legally and there are many other examples of large scale fraud many are oppressed by.  Many are oppressed daily by the greed of their employers during this time of recession in our world.  In addition, many people do not give from their hearts, even when the Holy Spirit impresses them strongly to give to others.  But God will not leave His children in a den of thieves.  No act of sin will go unpunished.  The Lord will keep His children safe and annihilate their enemies.  He holds the scales and will balance all injustice by His own righteous hand.
