Word for the Day February 9 By: Evangelist
Cascille Hammack
"I make known the end from the beginning,
from ancient times, what is still to come. I say: My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please."
Isaiah 46:10
Are you facing an uncertainty in your life? We have counseled
numerous people who ask, "Why?". Our answer is, nothing you are facing today has caught the Lord by
surprise! You may be facing an illness, have suffered a great injustice, have been wounded by others you trusted, facing
a financial storm or have lost someone you love. The list is endless. The Lord has given us His Word, "For
My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways," declares the Lord. "As the heavens are
higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts." Isaiah 55:8,9
The answer is to trust Him not only when we don't understand but especially when we don't understand. And He tells us,
"It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man." Psalm 118:8. Proverbs 29:25 says, "Fear
of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe." People will disappoint us, but the
Lord alone is faithful. He is a jealous God and we are to put nothing before Him. It is the first commandment,
Ex. 20:3,4, "You shall have no other gods before Me.....for I the Lord your God am a jealous God...". You
also cannot put your trust in yourself, for Proverbs 28:26 declares, "He who trusts in himself is a fool, but
he who walks in wisdom is kept safe." Faith in the Lord is trusting Him. When you
do not understand, stand on faith in the One who not only understands but has written the story of your life and
knows the end from the beginning. Jesus said, "apart from Me you can do nothing." John 15:5
"The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in Him, but with an
overwhelming flood He will make an end of Nineveh; He will pursue His foes into darkness." Nahum 1:7
"From
the Lord comes deliverance. May your blessing be upon Your people." Psalm 3:8
