Word for the Day  April 15 Tuesday
By:  Evang. Cascille Hammack

"This is the verdict:  Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil."  John 3:19

The wicked find pleasure in sin but those who are truly born again hate wickedness and are grieved when they see the unrighteous acts of depraved people.  When someone has the love of Christ living in them, it is obvious.  1 Cor. 13:6 explains, "Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth."  A person can not love you with the love of Christ if it is not in them.  Romans 1:32 describes those who do evil, "Although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of them who practice them."  To these people, sin has become entertainment and it will be exposed and judged in the final day (2 Th. 2:12).
John 3:20,21 explains further, "Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.  But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God."  Those who have united themselves with Christ live to do God's will and are willing to suffer for Him.  Those who do not are obvious regardless of what they profess.  1 Peter 4:3-5 describes how living for God brings persecution from those who do not truly serve him, "For you have spent enough time in the past doing what pagans do- living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing and detestable idolatry.  They think it strange that you do not plunge with them into the same flood of dissipation, and they heap abuse on you.  But they will have to give account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead."
In Rev. 2:6, Jesus said, "But you have this in your favor:  You hate the practices of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate."  The Nicolaitans taught that immorality did not affect one's salvation.  God hates the heresy that teaches we can be saved and at the same time live in sin.  To hate what God hates is an essential characteristic of those who belong to Him.  Psalm 139:21 says, "Do I not hate those, O Lord, and abhor those who rise up against you?"  Proverbs 8:13 explains, "To fear the Lord is to hate evil."
