Word for the Day April 16

"But Jesus would not entrust Himself to them, for He knew all men. He did not need man's testimony
about man, for He knew what was in a man." John 2:24, 25
While Jesus was
in Jerusalem at Passover Feast, many believed in His name because they saw the miraculous signs He was doing. The above
Scripture explains that He did entrust Himself to them, for He knew what was in them. People will readily follow what
they see.
To their own detriment, many make the mistake of following ministers and the elaborate
systems they create rather than following God for themselves. They will follow what they see. Men will always
disappoint, God will never disappoint us, for He alone is faithful. Following God requires faith. It takes no
faith to follow what you see. 2 Cor. 5: 7 says, "We live by faith not by sight."
Hebrews
11:6 explains, "And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him, must believe that
He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him." Jesus said in Luke 11:29-32, "This
is a wicked generation. It asks for a sign, but none will be given it except the sign of Jonah. For as Jonah was
a sign to the Ninevites, so also will the Son of Man be to this generation...The men of Ninevah will rise up at the judgement
with this generation and condemn it; for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and now one greater than Jonah is here."
The Lord requires that people everywhere repent and turn to Him alone in faith. In Matthew 18:3,4 Jesus
declares, "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom
of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven."
