Word for the Day April 20
By: Evang. Cascille Hammack
"For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our
weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are- yet without sin. Let us then approach
the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need."
Hebrews 4:15,16
1 John 1:9 says, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just
and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." You must first realize your need to repent,
and then you must turn from sin. This means turn completely and do not allow yourself to be yoked again to the
bondage of slavery. Galatians 5:1 instructs, "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm,
then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery." You can not win with sin. You cannot
violate God's decrees and get away with it. He is a just God and will forgive you but you must repent and turn from
sin. If you let Satan ride, he will drive. If you open the door to him in your life, be sure of this, he
will take over. He does not give you a choice if you want to serve him or not as our precious Lord Jesus. If you
are not serving the Lord, you are serving Satan. Jesus warns in John 8:34-36, "I tell you the truth,
everyone who sins becomes a slave to sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it
forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed."
Galatians 6:7,8 declares, "Do
not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature,
from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life."
If you have sinned, repent and do as Jesus told the woman caught in adultery in John 8:11, "Neither do I condemn thee: go
and sin no more."
